BAND BIO'S

Chris Carmichael ~ Guitar & Vocals

Chris first picked up the guitar around age 15. The garage bands that followed turned into school dances that turned into small clubs, and so on. A few more bands and a lot of performing experience followed, Chris eventually joined Big Dave McLean and the Muddy-Tones. Work with Big Dave continues today, and has allowed Chris to play with classic bluesmen, the likes of Pine Top Perkins and Dutch Mason. He has bent strings with many of today’s blues scene headliners, from Sue Foley to Colin James.
Chris’s discography confirms his involved with many album releases over the last few years from the Winnipeg roots scene. Three albums with Romi Mayes (including the WCMA Album of The Year – Sweet Something Steady), lengthy stints with the Scott Nolan Band, The Western States, as well as a long list of studio work, brings Chris to his current band project – The Swag.
Chris has toured extensively coast to coast in Canada for over 15 years with Big Dave McLean, Sue Foley, Romi Mayes, Scott Nolan, and The Perpetrators.

Ken McMahon ~ Drums & Vocals

After 20 years of professional playing Ken has played and recorded with with a long list of Canadian and International artists including: The Rockin' Highliners, Pinetop Perkins, Duke Robillard, King Biscuit Boy, Sue Foley, Jack Dekeyser, Jack Semple, Carlos Del Junco, Philip Walker, Stuart McLean, Big Dave McLean, Brent Parkin, Harpdog Brown, Ray St. Germain, Lou Pride, Raoul and the Big Time and The Perpetrators to name a few. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ken has toured extensively throughout North America as well as two tours to Europe. He has been nominated for the Maple Blues Award "Canadian Drummer of The Year" three times. Also he plays on numerous award winning recordings including a Juno nominated CD with The Rockin' Highliners.

Bernie Thiessen ~ Bass Guitar

Hailing from Blumenort, Manitoba, Bernie has been playing with bands throughout southeastern Manitoba since his teen years. Since the late 90's Bernie has been backing up and recording with artists such as: Big Dave McLean, Brent Parkin, J.P. LePage, Righteous Ike, The Jakebrakes, The Drunkabillys, and Tracy K across western Canada.
